Master of the Mind David Magee is our emcee for the 67th Annual Meeting and will entertain us at the Past Chair's Banquet.
David Magee is one of America's foremost Mentalist.  He is continually sought after as one of the country's top Corporate Entertainers and has been proclaimed by Nolan Ryan to be the "Entertainer's Entertainer."
David is also recognized as one of the top mentalists in the world and recently received the International Magician Society's Merlin Award for Mentalist of the Year.   He has entertained millions on national television, on many talk shows, and most recently was  featured on the TLC Network special,  "Seeing VS Believing". 
David can be seen on the stage of the world's largest casino, Winstar World Casino and Resort.

Josh Leftwich, President & CEO, Texas Aggregates & Concrete Association
State of the Association Address - Josh will update members on the issues our industry is facing, present membership growth and retention statics, financial updates, and general information regarding the association.
Josh Leftwich was named the President and CEO of TACA in May 2020, after having served 20 years in the mining and energy sectors. He has an extensive and diverse range of experience in environmental permitting and regulatory policy, legislative engagement, business planning, risk management and stakeholder engagement.  
Before joining TACA, Leftwich was manager of business development, environmental and safety of the Southern Division of Knife River, which is one of the largest construction materials and contracting companies in the U.S. While there, he oversaw the company’s environmental programs for its operating sites and led safety and business development teams. Over the span of his career, Leftwich has directed projects at Cameco Resources, Uranium Energy Corp and Mesteña Uranium.
Leftwich is a graduate of Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Renewable Natural Resources, and was a Fellow at Oxford University’s World Nuclear University. He and his wife Sheridan have four children, two dogs and a few fish. 

Mindy Ellmer, TACA Lobby Team Member
Texas State Legislative Overview - Legislative update will comprise a recap on the 86th Texas Legislature, briefing on transportation, financial outlook, and other critical policy topics in Texas.
Mindy Ellmer provides strategic counsel on legislative and regulatory policy, political engagement and grassroots deployment. She is a recognized expert in business issues including tax, water, energy, as well as environmental policy, infrastructure, and tort issues. With over twenty years of practical experience before the Texas Legislature and state agencies, boards and commissions, Mindy provides effective counsel to Fortune 500 Companies and local government organizations and non-profit organizations. She offers clients efficient and successful advocacy at a level of unparalleled professionalism.
Mindy began her career inside the Texas Capitol, working for the Governor’s Office and in both the Texas House and Senate. She launched her lobby career at the Texas Dental Association, then moved to Bracewell & Giuliani, LLP. 
Ms. Ellmer is a proud graduate of the University of Texas.

National Ready Mix Concrete Association Chair of the Board Abbott Lawrence, President, West Division, Martin Marietta
Abbott Lawrence is President of Martin Marietta’s West Division located in Lakewood, Colorado. 
Abbott received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University and studied Economics at Colorado College. 
His career started in Investment Banking in the Merger & Acquisitions practice at The First Boston Corporation in Dallas, Texas. He moved to Denver, CO. in 1991, where he opened the Merger & Acquisitions practice for Dain Bosworth. 
He subsequently joined BACE Industries as a Partner and went on to found BACE Capital Partners, where he served as its Managing Director. Abbott became the Owner of Suburban Ready Mix in Denver, and then joined the team at Martin Marietta in 2011 upon its acquisition of Suburban and other assets along the Front Range of Colorado, which together formed the West Division of Martin Marietta. 
Abbott has served on the Board of Directors of multiple
privately held corporations, and he has served on the Board of Directors of The Logan School in Denver that serves gifted students in grades K-8.
Abbott is a long standing member of the Board of Colorado Ready Mixed Concrete Association, where he served as its Treasurer for many years, and he is the current Chairman of the Board for the National Ready Mix Concrete Association.

Michael W. Johnson, IOM, President and CEO, National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association
Mr. Johnson serves as the lead advocate for the stone, sand and gravel industry. In this role, Johnson is responsible for the strategic development and execution of the association’s advocacy mission in the areas of industry promotion, membership advocacy and advancing public policies that protect and expand the safe, environmentally responsible use of aggregates. In this role, he continues to successfully energize and focus the association’s resources to better serve the industry. 
Since coming to NSSGA in 2013, Johnson has implemented an ambitious, yet successful, plan to grow the scope and influence of NSSGA. Rocks Build America is a three-year, member-driven initiative to enhance the association’s advocacy in the legislative and regulatory arenas, align internal and external communications activities with the association’s goals, and demonstrate NSSGA’s value to the entire aggregates industry. Since implementation, NSSGA has seen progress on all fronts as Johnson continues to successfully energize and focus the association’s resources to better serve the industry. 
Before this current role, Johnson served as the executive vice president, chief lobbyist, and top political officer with the National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA). Johnson also served as vice president of government affairs with the Wine and Spirits Wholesalers of America (WSWA) before NBWA. 
A Kentucky native, Johnson earned his undergraduate degree in Political Science and Journalism at the University of Kentucky where he currently serves on the Alumni Advisory Board for the College of Arts and Sciences, Department of Political Science.  Johnson, his wife, Jill, and their two boys live in Alexandria, Virginia.

Robert L. Guyer, Author and Speaker, Insiders Talk: Winning with Lobbyists
Local Stakeholder and Elected Official Engagement - Mr. Guyer will provide the keys to the techniques of effective communications to state agencies and local legislators. Learn to engage your local, city and state officials.
Robert L. Guyer is a writer and lecturer with Engineering THE LAW, Inc. in Gainesville, Florida. Previously he served as Legislative Counsel for the Ralston Purina Company; Manager of Legislative Affairs for Energizer Power Systems, and Gates Energy Products, Inc.; and as a contract lobbyist, Director of Legislative and Regulatory Affairs for the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation for which he lobbied internationally. Prior to becoming a lawyer-lobbyist, he served as a pollution control inspector for a regulatory agency and later managed environmental engineering and compliance for an electric utility. As a Florida State University Visiting Professor, conference speaker, and provider of public and private skills training seminars he has trained thousands of lobbyists. He has written seven best practice lobbying manuals guiding advocates from design and implementation of a legislative campaign through executive agency post-rule appeal.
He holds degrees in political science, civil engineering, and law - all from the University of Florida - and is licensed to the practice of law in Florida and the District of Columbia. 

Jon Hockenyos, President, TXP
Texas and National Economic Report
Jon Hockenyos has had a life-long interest in economics and public policy. Following stints as an aide to a member of the British Parliament and work on a Senatorial campaign in his home state of Illinois, Mr. Hockenyos founded TXP while attending the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin in 1987. Since then, TXP has successfully completed hundreds of projects for a wide variety of clients, with a strong record of on-time, on-budget delivery. Along with serving as President of the firm, Mr. Hockenyos makes numerous public presentations and speeches, has served as a resource witness on a variety of issues for a large number of city councils, state legislatures, and the U.S. Congress, and is widely quoted by both print and electronic media.
Mr. Hockenyos received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from the University of Illinois and Masters of Public Affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs, where he has taught as an Adjunct Professor. He is a Trustee of Ascension Texas and is a member of the Board of American Bank of Commerce. He also served on the interim Board of Directors for Capital Metro (the Austin area transit authority).
