These 5-day workshops provide science-based information to help educate students about the availability, importance, development and use of our natural resources while protecting our environment. The attendees tour operating mining facilities, visit reclamation areas, hear from industry experts and participate in hands-on labs. These activities are designed to help students use critical thinking skills while applying earth science facts to real-life situations. Designed to be used in grades 4-12, all activities are TEKS and STAAR correlated.
Workshop participants receive the curriculum, geologic samples, additional materials and equipment needed for use in the classroom. Teachers will also receive Professional Development hours:
45 hours SBEC approved
40 hours TEEAC credit
12 hours Gifted & Talented
